Caterpillar system connectivity setup

The CAT system connectivity setup includes information on:
  • CAT NG machines equipped with the APU 2022 and APU 2023 for crawlers
  • CAT NG machines equipped with the APU 2026 for wheeled excavators (WHEX)
  • Supported machine models for different APUs
  • Enabling grade functionality
  • Enabling third-party software
  • Configuring CAT joysticks for automatic control
  • Setting up tilt bucket tool type
  • CAT TRS Tilt Rotating attachment
CAT NG crawler machines can be equipped with either the APU 2022 or APU 2023 installed on the Electronic Control Module (ECM). The supported machine models and functions can vary depending on the APU version. Machines with Build B5 will have the old ECM and support 3D indication and tilting attachments (when using a CAT tilt sensor) without the need of a CAT Software Enabling Authorization (SEA) code. Machines with Build B6 will currently support the same features, but they require a SEA code from CAT. SEA code activation in the ECM can be verified by an official CAT dealer using the CAT Electronic Technician (CAT ET) software. Refer to serial tag on machine body to determine whether machine has a B5 or B6 ECM.
The serial tag displays both the model and build indicator to identify the type of ECM. For example, the 326 model with B6 ECM is capable of performing 3D indicate, 3D Automatic, and supports a tilting rotator. See the table in the Supported Machine Models - APU 2022 topic.
