The measurements and calibration of the MC-X systems are based on the relationship of system components, dozer lengths, and pivot points with respect to a planar surface.
- The cutting-edge bolts on the blade must be parallel or the same distance from the planar surface.
- The lowest point of the cutting edge must be touching the planar surface.
- New, unworn blades may be resting on the planar surface, but unevenly worn blades will not have the cutting edge entirely resting on the planar surface.
- For unevenly worn blades, only the least worn part of the cutting edge will touch the planar surface
