There are four key factors of dozer configuration for successful calibration of the main slope and cross slope:
- The cross slope of the cutting-edge bolts must match the cross slope of the body.

- The blade must be perpendicular or square to the dozer body.

- The cutting-edge bolts of the blade must be parallel to the planar surface or an equal distance from each bolt to the planar surface.
- The lowest point of the blade’s cutting edge must touch the planar surface.
